The Michelin-Starred Chicken Rice is Now in Ipoh!

Ipoh is filled with delicacies across town almost around every curb – left, right and centre – especially its famous chicken rice. But recently, there has been a newcomer in town – one with a prestigious chicken rice recipe.

According to SAYS, 2016 Michelin star winner, Chef Chan Hon Meng, has finally brought his soya sauce chicken rice from Singapore back to his hometown in Ipoh on the 26 February.

Operated on a self-service basis, the shop located at Jalan Theater reportedly receive long queues from the time they open for business at 11am and successfully selling all 90+ chicken prepared for that day.

Chan’s chicken rice stall was one of the two street food locations in the world to be awarded a star.

Back in Singapore, Chan’s delicacy was already renowned by the locals before being nominated by Michelin Guide representative. Customers queued for 30 minutes to 2 hours just to get their hands on a plate of Chan’s scrumptious original twist to chicken rice.

Business picked up as soon as Chan was awarded a Michelin star in July 2016 and has never looked back ever since.

Aside from the famed chicken rice. Chef Chan also concocted an array of other delicious food. Another one of his must-try includes his siu yuk (roast pork) and char siu (BBQ pork) which compliments his servings of rice and noodles well.

Before, stamping his presence in Ipoh, Chef Chan had already branched into the likes of Taiwan, Australia and more.

Now, this is one restaurant to lunch during your visit to Ipoh. One serving is as cheap as RM6.80 for a plate of satisfying chicken rice.
